For 2017 TK Hockey have reviewed their range and consolidated to a new naming convention of the Total range. Within the full 2017 Total Range of sticks from TK Hockey this review focuses on the seven highest carbon content sticks, the Total One models.

Material is everything in hockey sticks these days, the Total One model hockey sticks in TK 2017 range all have been made using the new ‘Hy-Braid’ process for adding an additional layer of Braided Carbon OVER an inner core of the same.

Braided Carbon hit the hockey world two seasons ago from adidas and as it sounds, see’s carbon fibre strands ‘braided’ together to enhance the strength of the stick.

TK hockey have taken this a step further in the Total One range by braiding the carbon makes the core of the stick, and wrapping that with carbon which is braided in the opposite direction.

TK are using a special resin to stick it all together known as graphene. This isn’t uncommon these days, the resin is mixed with carbon stands and again, help increase the stiffness and therefore power of the hockey stick.

What does all this concentration on material by TK do to the stick. It makes the Total One a very stiff and very powerful hockey stick. It also allows TK to add more aramid (the material used in bullet proof vests) to the areas of the hockey stick that require reinforcement.

The head and the reverse edge of these sticks are reinforced with this material which makes them super tough and allows more power to be pushed through the ball. This is why you will notice in some models that the total material mix is 80% carbon and 20% aramid. While other models have 100% carbon, the mix with aramid is still just as good in my opinion.

There are 5 different shape shafts available in the 2017 Total One models of TK hockey sticks.

While there are only 3 different positions of the maximum allowed by international rules bow, some models now include as standard a groove in the face and lower part of the shaft designed to help with drag-flicking.

These grooves have been available from other brands for a couple of seasons and now it 2017 TK hockey have offered the option to those who want it.

As we are talking about the top of the range TK Total One hockey sticks, these drag-flick grooves are well made and if you are looking for a way of improving your drag-flick stills, they could help you out.
