The adidas Estro Kromaskin hockey stick has been generating buzz for its blend of control and power, thanks to its innovative Kromaskin technology and classic mid-low bow profile. But how does it perform on the pitch? I’ve put it through its paces to give you a balanced perspective.
First Impressions:
The Estro Kromaskin instantly impresses with its sleek, futuristic design. The black and gold colorway with Kromaskin accents screams performance, and the stick feels light and well-balanced in hand. The Pure Control head has a spacious sweet spot, promising accurate passing and pinpoint drag flicks.
For me I enjoyed this stick most because of the bow. I’m a defender and I find the low bow sticks frustrating when tackling and playing slap passes across the back-line, so I always go for a midbow shape if I can.
Power: This is where the Kromaskin technology shines. The ultra-thin carbon fiber layers add stiffness to the shaft, leading to explosive shots and powerful drives. You can really feel the difference in ball speed compared to standard composite sticks.
Control: The mid-low bow provides excellent ball feel and maneuverability. Dribble control and tight turns are a breeze, making this stick a dream for quick, agile players. However, the stiffness can limit your ability to generate finesse when trapping the ball on an upright stick and like any of these high carbon content sticks can be risky when trying to trap under-pressure in the D as the ball can deflect off the stick and in to the grasp of a attacker.
Touch: The Pure Control head delivers on its promise, offering a soft yet responsive feel for precise passing and receiving. The sweet spot is generous, forgiving off-center hits while maintaining control.
Durability: The Estro Kromaskin feels solid and well-constructed. The Kromaskin reinforcement adds confidence against hard tackles and accidental whacks. However, some users have reported chipping on the head after extended use, so be mindful of its limitations.
Overall:
The adidas Estro Kromaskin is a top-tier hockey stick for players seeking a powerful and controlled all-round performance. Its Kromaskin technology and Pure Control head offer a winning combination for accurate shots and precise stickwork. However, the emphasis on power can come at the expense of finesse, and the reported durability concerns leave room for improvement. If you’re a strong, aggressive player who prioritises power and control, the Estro Kromaskin is a worthy investment. However, if you prefer a softer touch and more versatility, consider exploring other options.
Final Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. Excellent power and control, but stiffness sacrifices some finesse. Durability concerns warrant caution.
I hope this review helps you decide if the adidas Estro Kromaskin is the right stick for you!
